A Yuki-onna (雪女) is the Japanese word for snow woman. They are a spirit or a Youkai, associated with winter and snowstorms. It is said in some legends to be the spirit of an individual who has perished in the snow and cold. Yuki-onna are often described wearing a white kimono(or any clothes resembling such), or naked, with only their hair and face standing out. Despite their inhuman beauty, they are hostile to Humans and killing them unsuspectingly. In Gensokyo, they only appear in winter and are rarely encountered.
