Overview[]

Satori Komeiji is a fairly difficult boss, probably one of the hardest bosses in this game due to most of her unpredictable spells. Unlike the encounter in Subterranean Animism, Satori will use spellcards from Patchouli Knowledge, Aya Shameimaru and Yukari Yakumo in that order.

Phase 1 (Normal Attack 1)[]

Description[]

Satori will fire multiple bullets in the form of rings that will fly up briefly before raining on the character. Some of the larger danmakus are summoned and will drop.

Strategy[]

This spell is easier to dodge if you stand in the middle. Often you'll see openings appear in the middle, and the bullets tend to move from left/right crossing the middle.

Normal Difficulty[]

Satori will fire more bullets and some of the larger danmakus will fall in larger bunches.

Treat this phase the same way in easy mode. Don't worry too much about the larger danmakus, their hitbox is rather small in spite of their size so feel free to brush the edges to get a feel of their hitbox size. Again stick to the middle as much as possible.

Hard Difficulty[]

A lot more danmakus and large danmakus will fall.

This phase is a lot tricker to dodge on hard difficulty. The middle isn't always safe anymore unlike the previous phases. Stick to the middle as much as possible as Satori will never move from that spot. If you do fail to see an opening in the middle, feel free to move to the side and move back when it's safe. Again, don't overestimate the hitbox size of the larger danmakus.

Phase 2 (Recollection: Terrible Souveneir)[]

Description[]

Satori will move to the centre of the screen and summons moving lasers that spin around the screen before stopping and becoming active (shown when the lasers bolden). After the laser deactivates, Satori will summon several rings of danmakus that spiral clockwise/counterclockwise outwards while the lasers stop and activate again.

Strategy[]

Try and stay in a position where you can focus fire on Satori throughout the phase. The lasers themselves do not pose much of a threat since they'll only activate when immobile. However they can hinder movement slightly especially when dodging the danmakus fired from Satori. When Satori releases the danmakus, stick to the very bottom of the screen and dodge left and right when the danmakus fly towards you (while avoiding the immobile laser).

Normal Mode[]

More lasers are summoned and more danmaku's are summoned giving less room for the player to dodge.

Treat the same way as you would in easy mode.

Hard Mode[]

Even more lasers are summoned and more danmakus are summoned giving even less room for the player to dodge.

Treat the same way as you would in easy mode.

Phase 3 (Normal Attack 2)[]

Description[]

Satori fires a bunch of danmakus and large danmakus that rain down on the player. Pretty much the same as phase one except Satori will move around the screen every time she lets loose a wave.

Strategy[]

Treat this phase the same way as phase one. Unlike phase one, standing in front of Satori isn't always safe so you may need to move left or right if you couldn't find an opening. As usual, stand in front of Satori as much as possible.

Normal Mode[]

Satori fires more danmaku and larger danmakus that rain down on the opponent. Nothing much to be said here.

Hard Mode[]

Satori fires even more danmaku and larger danmakus that rain down on the opponent. Nothing much to be said here.

Phase 4 (Recollection: Mercury Poison)[]

Description[]

Much like Patchouli Knowledge's Metal & Water Sign: Mercury Poison spellcard from Embodiment of the Scarlet Devil, Satori will release a ring of yellow danmaku and then a ring of grey danmaku moving clockwise and counterclockwise respectively. Both rings are released consecutively. After about several loops, Satori will pause and move before releasing another wave.

Strategy[]

This spell is pretty hard to avoid. The best way to avoid this spell is by moving left and right to dodge while moving downwards to match the speed of the danmaku.
