Ubame's concept is likely derived from Chirizuka-kaiou, a youkai created by Toriyama Sekien.
Name[]
Her surname, Chirizuka (塵塚), literally translates to "dust heap", and it is derived from "Chirizuka-kaiou" (塵塚怪王). Her given name, Ubame (ウバメ), is written in katakana. Her name is likely derived from the Ubame oak (姥目樫ubamegashi), similar to how Nemuno's name is likely derived from the Persian silk tree.
Design[]
Ubame has pale blue-grey hair and purple eyes, and wears a small gold crown. She wears clothes made of layered fabric, forming a white-and-orange top and an orange skirt with a hem similar to Nemuno Sakata's and Son Biten's outfits. Strips of dark purple fabric wind around her skirt and strips of black fabric wind around her arms.

In Fossilized Wonders, she attacks the heroine, believing that they somehow forced her out of the sanctuary. After she is defeated, Reimu explains that she didn't force Ubame out, but the sanctuary itself did. Marisa tries to tell her what she is doing with the Incident Stone and what the seal consists of.
