Re:Thanks

Working on Vandal isp: 217.66.205.16. Aim to fix all pages this user touched. Not sure what all is Vandalized, but there are two Isps I'm seeing. The first one appears to have been dealt with already btw. Get a new admin and block further abuse.  Devilmanozzy (Talk Page)  19:20, January 21, 2011 (UTC)

I've reverted about 1000 edits. Tell me if there are more things to do. Vĕģą-Ďāґķ 20:47, January 21, 2011 (UTC)

Template

{{Infobox Music}} was being exchanged for {{MusicArticle}}, so... when we get an idea of how we want them to look, I can try to go through and check on all the templates and redo them, etc. To see if it makes things easier or to make a new look. I took out the message at the top though. --Imanie 20:15, January 21, 2011 (UTC)

All templates should be placed in some kind of category for references Category:Templates, however, every template can be found by using Special:PrefixIndex and using the namepsace Template. That will show every single template, used or not used, as long as it contains the word phrase Template: before the page name. --Imanie 20:36, January 21, 2011 (UTC)

Main Page & Updates

The slider pictures probably do need to be changed, I'm not sure to what yet. I added a few more pages that aren't showing on the page yet, but if you have any ideas on it all... please throw them out there! I added three more pages (Characters4, Bestiary, and Locations), but I did't add those pictures up yet.

Also, on copyrights Kiefmaster started by adding pages to copyright violations. Which got us into a discussion about removing links to the new wiki. So.. frankly we're allowed to because it violates copyright, from what he said. MB has also tried to delete the favicon and change it out with something else. I don't know what you want to do about that, though :/ --Imanie 04:14, January 26, 2011 (UTC)

Heeeeey! I was busy for a short while, but I'm back :o what have you been up to? --Imanie 03:02, March 17, 2011 (UTC)
Could you log on to talk easier and a little more often :3? --Imanie 03:20, March 17, 2011 (UTC)

Check my page

My page has the current list of vandalism I'm gonna revert. Just FYI if you wanna help out also. Powers38 Talk 08:41, January 27, 2011 (UTC)

Have you been deleting lyrics page? Powers38 Talk 07:05, January 30, 2011 (UTC)

Another One!

Apparently the Tsukihime person was also only a vandal. I checked the page that you deleted (the test/1) page, and it was pasted into various templtates to redirect people to the other page (before it was changed and deleted). D: --Imanie 00:21, January 31, 2011 (UTC)

Vandal bot

Nice job taking care of it. How'd you revert so fast. So much for using the rollback all script :S Powers38 Talk 07:10, February 2, 2011 (UTC)

When I click rollback I just have my browser open it in a new tab and close it so all I have to do is go down the page clicking rollback. Took about 5 minutes to do because I was talking to friends while doing, I could probably revert 200 edits in 60 seconds. I wasn't aware of a better way. VS3025 07:40, February 2, 2011 (UTC)

I moved the Former main page to Touhou Wiki:Former main page. Just a heads up. Powers38 Talk 02:51, February 5, 2011 (UTC)

Understood. :D Powers38 Talk 04:11, February 7, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks

Ya, the featured user thing would be neat. Granted its been a while since I did another fansub, i hope to get back into it soon. I have a backlog of doujins I really want to share with more Touhou fans. --Tetsamaru 15:54, February 24, 2011 (UTC)

Are you in charge here?

I know nothing of Touhou. Where should I start? LD 23:31, March 16, 2011 (UTC)

My user page

You've said this before: "Although, to be honest it really doesn't bother me if people post a link to the other wiki here if they can keep it reasonable (Saying "herp derp this wiki is dead go to the other wiki") is not acceptable. Posting a link to your profile on this wiki to the other wiki, really doesn't bother me." Why don't you let me do this? Was the wording of my last edit pushing it? (Besides, how is one supposed to be able to do that without working around the spam filter?) —Nereid talk 02:02, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

How much?

You are currently being a hinderance to the English Touhou community. The community at large has moved on, this will never be anything other than your own personal wiki anymore. The continued existence of this wiki does nothing but confuse people who are just randomly googling for info and are bound to stumble across outdated information (while getting ad money from those confused visitors). I do not understand why would anyone grasp onto the decayed corpse of a wiki, you are just doing everyone a disservice by keeping on administrating this. Having the old, unmaintained and outdated fork of the Touhou Wiki ranking so high on search engines only harms the community.

How much do you want to stop editing the Touhou Wikia? I am willing to PayPal you money. Or are you currently being paid by Wikia? Disgusting. I am completely serious, though. Email me if you wish to discuss this in private. --Asdfg1234 18:54, April 22, 2011 (UTC)

Reverting messages on talk pages

Please do not delete conversations on other users talk pages, unless they are spam, vandalism, insults or illegal content. I am not spamming nor vandalizing this wiki. If you disagree with what I'm saying, feel free to join the conversation on that user's talk page. You are also free to delete comments left on your own talk page (while it would be rude, it's within your rights). Deleting conversations from other users talk pages is completely against the spirit of wikis and a serious wiki etiquette offense. --Asdfg1234 20:18, April 22, 2011 (UTC)

Finally got around to this

Ok so as for a summary. I'm kinda bad at this so bare with me. I might prattle on so you can just take what's neccessary.

I'm a Big Touhou fan since the PC-98 days. I got started Fansubbing NicoNico Douga Touhou Manga's basically on a whim with another Youtube member. Without giving the whole history I just got into it. To my knowledge there are alot of Fansubbers of regular Touhou Doujins as shown by Gensokyou.org but no one really translating the NicoNico Mangas. As a big touhou fan I want to share it with the non japanese speaking community. There are alot of really great "video Manga's" that just don't see the light of day to the non-japanese speaking community. Its a whole new level of story telling since there are slight animations and the inclusion of music really sets it apart from regular Manga. I can see why other fansubber groups probably don't get into this since its more work to edit a video than picture pages. Several links to use would be http://www.thosetouhouguys.com/ http://www.youtube.com/user/Tetsamaru2nd http://touhouradio.forumotion.com/f9-thosetouhouguys

The forum actually doesnt see much action but for anything thats really important I'll usually post on there. The Youtube page is used for hosting the videos as well as some of my own personal stuff. The Main website also sometimes will have videos I'm unable to upload to Youtube sometimes. There are especially some really good Touhou Manga's i would like to translate but are actually a bit on the Echhi side that youtube probably wont allow. In that case, it will be hosted and can only be seen at the main website. Right now I haven't gotten to those yet. I'm 1 guy so I get to translating what I can.

Hope this is at least close to what you wanted. edit Just saw what it looks like, Thats pretty much spot on what I wanted to say. My main problem is always saying too much when I could say alot less. Thats diffenetly a good summary.

Is this really the home your intended comunity wants?

Hello, me again. You know why I'm here of course, but bare with me?

I was just reading the discussion on Asdfg1234's page. Hoping you and Lem haven't gotten too fed up of me yet, popping back every now and then. It's reassuring that you haven't resigned to just banning anyone who speaks up or anything like that. I won't try a full response to all of that considerable reply to Asdfg1234, since that would likely chew through a lot of time for both of us. But I've got one thought I'll put out today. I'll try to keep it short (failed).

I wanted to ask, have you actually considered the possibility of picking up this goal of a new fanon and user created hub, and taking it somewhere new? A separate site of some kind, with a new domain. It would escape all this baggage, conflict and controversy of this old wiki for a start. Somewhere to be a home for the podcast without listeners being unable to forget wikia based drama. Truely running a website might sound like a lot of work, but seeing the amount of effort you put in here despite everything, it seems quite possible to me. Even if it used a wiki layout again, since you seem to know the wiki layout and it would work well.

Crucially, It would remove the issue of the honestly sketchy future of any encyclopaedic intentions this current site has/retains. I'm not being pessimistic here, it's simply the truth and a matter of time. Even if a surge of eager new members turned up here tomorrow, the network a Touhou encyclopaedia needs cannot be built over night. As an example. The T13 demo has been out for over two weeks, and this site doesn't even have any translations yet, not even for the two new character profiles, nor any foreseeable way to acquire them without leaching off others. And keeping characters up to date is the easy part. Things like the doujin music lists this site still holds an archive of, will prove utterly impossible to maintain to any worth while quality. Comiket77 saw 161 new albums released, Reitaisei7 saw 170 new albums released. And those aren't the only conventions this stuff is unveiled at.

It's something that if this site is to continue in any respectable form, either needs to be dropped entirely, or would need to adopt some kind of significantly simplified template for central sections (characters, games, official works) and most likely drop the secondary sections (encyclopaedic lists of doujin music, doujin comics, lyrics and translations etc). Given the mission statement you're running on, it might seem backwards to pull support for the doujin/fan side of the encyclopaedia, but covering it in a genuinely encyclopaedic way is something you simply won't be able to build the network of contacts and contributors to do so.

Even if a community grows here, aren't you concerned about awkward future rivalry between prospective members here and the part of the community that condemns what has happened here? If I was trying to build a new community home for fans to relax at and share fun fan related things, I wouldn't choose the bitter warzone created between said fans and a corporation to build it in. Considering the publicity this has gotten you, and that hundreds to thousands of existing eager Touhou fans now inevitably know of the new mission here, isn't it strange that virtually no one seems interested in taking past? Same reason no one builds a Jewish social club on a famous holocaust site. Even new comers that are otherwise completely unaware of the past drama here will see and hear hints of it eventually, and it will be awkward.

Stopping now. Writing far more than I meant to and the direction is slipping away from my initial question and unavoidably into generic "trying to persuade you" stuff. Sorry. But in conclusion, please go back to that first question, "I wanted to ask, have you actually considered the possibility of picking up this goal of a new fanon and user created hub, and taking it somewhere new?"

Can you help me understand the two touhou wikis?

As you indicated you would rather have the conversation here, I'm copy-pasting the Personal Message into here:

I discovered the two touhou wikis recently, and have since been trawling over talk pages and weblogs to try and clarify the exact nature of the situation. It hasn't been easy!

I decided I needed to go to the heart of the situation and ask the people involved directly.

I'm sending similar questions to the owners of the independent touhou wiki. I'm trying to gather a clear picture of what exactly is going on with the touhou wikia -- and what you would _like_ to happen with the touhou wikia.

1) Who are you? What is your name, how did you get into Touhou -- what should we know about you?

2) How did you become administrator of the touhou wikia?

3) What have you accomplished since becoming administrator of the wiki?

4) What is your relationship with the independent wiki? What compromises would you be willing to make to coexist with the independent wiki?

5) Is there any message you would like to give about your role in the touhou community?

This conversation would be more comfortable over email: do you have an email address? (my email is enclosed in the Personal Message I sent you.) Hatless 07:04, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

After waiting most of a day for a reply, I discover you have replied on on my talk page. Ok, we can continue the conversation there, although all this leapfrogging around is making me dizzy. Hatless 12:00, May 3, 2011 (UTC)

Requesting deletion of uploaded content

why is there no easily-accessible "report to admin" link

Back with the old wiki I suggested the addition of pronunciation pages for certain characters. I myself uploaded several voice recordings to use as placeholders. However, the recordings are outdated and inaccurate, and I do not want the site using my voice anymore, plain and simple. So, I'm requesting the deletion of the content I've uploaded, or at least removal from the pages that use them. I ask this directly because if I got rid of it myself, it'd just be seen as vandalism. I request the deletion of the following pages/files:

[request fulfilled]

And naturally the removal of the pronunciation links on pages that link to these files would be greatly appreciated. Obviously I don't care if the other pronunciation links uploaded by other people stay.

Thank you very much!

Vandalism

Seeing how some of the vandalism involved "HAGGAR", you may want to look at this. Momiji 17:35, May 12, 2011 (UTC)

Ha, I don't really visit Wikipedia that often, so I've never looked at the long term abuse section, but that is an interesting read. I can't even fathom how people become that immature... I actually feel a little sorry for that guy. (Only a little, though). VS3025 17:40, May 12, 2011 (UTC)

Hey

Long time no see. I don't know if you guys need music, but this site (It's a music game btw) has a good listing amount of touhou song/covers. Thought it might help if you like music added. Powers38 Talk 15:21, June 11, 2011 (UTC)

It's not entirely touhou songs, so I'm sure you can't add it to the Games page. Powers38 Talk 15:27, June 11, 2011 (UTC)
Oh! And uh. What about adding like a 20-30 seconds song sample to the respective song article? Powers38 Talk 15:58, June 11, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the link. And actually sampling the music is a really good idea. VS3025 02:41, June 12, 2011 (UTC)

Touhou Wikia

Hi there... Just wondering, lots and lots of people have been telling me to use "new" wiki, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touhou_Project instead of this one. Is that recommended or should I continue to this one? Cuz now that I'm used to this one...

Still Alive

"I feel fantastic and I'm still alive (1)". I check in on wikia all the time >.< but... I thought it would be cool to take summer classes :[ it's totally not. No time for anything :[ except, I did go to a convention :D

I can try to make it a plan to check in here everyday or do something constructive (I wasn't always logged in when I came here >.<), but I don't now exactly what to do. I did notice that the other wiki was being more friendly, which makes me happy :3

Before I took an extended leave, I did want to fix up a ton of templates :/ I come on wikia enough to be able to check all my messages, though :o so if you want me to do anything, I can try to fit it in, I'm sure :)

I apologize about being away, though :( --Imanie 03:17, July 2, 2011 (UTC)

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I've been busy myself, trying to find a new job, and working on some other projects, so I haven't had as much time to do what I'd like to do on here, either.
I have a list a mile long of things that could be done, but most of it that I intend on doing will have to wait until life is more stable. I'd like your ear for some ideas/opinions but I don't want to make you waste too much of your time here while you are so busy, especially considering I can't give a very large time commitment right now myself.
It probably doesn't help that when I have too many choices on what needs done (on the site) I tend to procrastinate. Some of this stuff could be fixed.

VS3025 06:27, July 2, 2011 (UTC)

And to add on, I don't mean to dissuade you from any of this. If you want to do some work here, that is fine, I just don't want to sound like I'm complaining about your lack of work while not doing much work myself.
If you get a chance, look at the forum about guidelines and drop your opinion in, it would be greatly appreciated!

VS3025 07:06, July 2, 2011 (UTC)

Will do :) I do know that there's a community portal for things that need to be done. So whenever we get more things ready or set up, we can add more there. --Imanie 23:07, July 2, 2011 (UTC)

Wrong info

I am very confused on why I've been given an endless amount of information that doesn't say it's either canon or fanon, or even information that's not true in canon or even unpopular fandom stuff. As you can see, I'm from wiki dot net and was wondering on why this wiki isn't really been taken care of properly. Is there any other admins on this wiki if you don't mind me asking? I also like to ask personally if you visit wiki dot net daily yourself. You do know many Internet users are unaware of wiki dot net and will come here might get the wrong idea on information. Please reply back about all this. (I've sign up to this wiki before I did at wiki dot net last year, just to let you know ;) --Tony64 22:10, July 3, 2011 (UTC)

Let's see if I can answer all of these questions.
  • Eventually the pages will probably be changed to differentiate between fan or official sources but right now it's really up to the writer of the fact to make sure it is distinguished clearly when writing.
  • Facts that aren't true or aren't really popular are at the discretion of the people who post them, and can be removed by other users.
  • This wiki isn't really taken care of properly, I'll give you that. Two reasons. First, I'm not a 16 year old kid, so I actually have to spend most of my time doing things that don't involve this wiki. Things will improve when I have time to improve them. Second, this wiki has been so messed up by repeated vandalism (both overt and shitty edits done on purpose), that it's kind of like a kid whose been in a couple of fights. His face isn't going to look pretty, even after the doctors patch him up. Funny enough, it was the users of the other wiki who did all the bad things to this one (and I know the "official policy" of the admin staff there is no vandalism, but we all know it is users from the other wiki doing it) but none of the people who come here asking me these questions seem to care about that.
  • There is one other admin on this wiki. She is more of the technical side of the wiki, and she also has a life. She works on things when she has free time.
  • I rarely visit the other wiki. I don't really have a reason to. If there is something about Touhou I don't know that I'd like to know and it isn't on this wiki, I will check the other one, but that situation rarely comes up.
  • The top of the main page mentions the independent wiki and links right to a page that discusses it and tells people (and actually encourages them!) to go there. There is also a news item/blog post about it on the bottom of the front page. People can also link to their profile on the other wiki in their profile on this wiki (as long as the message is acceptable) In addition, many other internet sources link to the new wiki. All in all, I'm not worried about the visibility of the other wiki, I think it can be found quite easily.
  • There isn't that much "wrong information" on here. It's not like new and exciting Aya Shameimaru info comes out on a weekly basis. Many of the articles don't really require updating. Our worst offender is the Ten Desires page, mostly because I didn't care for the demo and thus haven't put much work into the page. You might be pleased to know that I was thinking about just directing people on that page to the other wiki so they can get the best information available about that game.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. VS3025 03:44, July 4, 2011 (UTC)

Well, like I said on "my" talk page. I apologise for coming back late and thank you for answering to all of this. There is one think I forgot to say, what made you undo all the vandals? why did you want to jump in and remove it all? --Tony64 09:27, July 9, 2011 (UTC)

People who tell me to use "New Wiki"

Most were emails but I already deleted them but they said things like "Hey use new wiki its way better than this crap one" or "The Touhou Wiki has moved to ..... use that one it's more convenient and specific about the details" or "Are you aware of the new wiki!?" but I just ignore and delete them, and then few weeks later, "Hey are you even listening to me!? USE NEW WIKI!" and more of that. I had 2 from youtube, one of was inbox and the other was a channel comment. The inbox said that this wiki is rubbish... and the channel comment just told me to start using the other one. I also ignored those ones but few days later "Yeah you don't seem to be using it!" SATORISAMA!!! :DD YoumuKonpaku,MYON! XD 09:21, July 4, 2011 (UTC)

The Thing Wikia was Changing

Not exactly sure about what you just said, but if you mean like the colour of the wikia (with the Remilia in the background) then... Just giving ideas, it's possible that someone might've made a fan art of Reimu and Marisa at the front, then behind those 2 could be all the extra bosses or the stage 6 bosses. That'd be a pretty cool background. And instead of the background navy blue, we could have it... yellow and red, representing Marisa and Reimu, sort of. Just my ideas ^^ SATORISAMA!!! :DD YoumuKonpaku,MYON! XD 11:16, July 8, 2011 (UTC)

Wikia Changing

I see what you mean, but what happens to the official profiles? SATORISAMA!!! :DD YoumuKonpaku,MYON! XD 03:34, July 9, 2011 (UTC)

For the colour thing, having it maroon-ish is kind of hard to tell that it's a link. It blends in with the background and the writing making it hard to see. Still, good job on the Aya thingy! ChocolateLily. Watashi wa ChokoretoRiri desu. 07:01, July 9, 2011 (UTC)

Hey... I just recently got a message. Thought you'd like to know. Well someone just said.. they think the new colour layout is kinda ugly, and they said the template how fun facts, profiles are on seperate pages is very inconvenient. They're not purposely insulting wikia, they're just, giving their opinion. Just saying...
