There used to be some nonsense here: "Because there is another character named Rin, fans often refer to this Rin as Orin, her nickname." This is just silly, Rin Kaenbyou is Orin because that's what she's called in the actual game. 99% of fans has never heard of the "other Rin" or doesn't care because she never existed.

Maybe the editor meaned Rin Satsuki. But, you know, almost all people say Rin Kaembyou when you are asked what is the full name of "Rin". And that explanation isn't quite accurate; ZUN's character setting text says she is called as Orin, then people who have loved her found it very pretty. That is why she's called so.
