I submitted the transcription. This is my first time submitting one so I used Letty's page as a reference for format. Tell me if I'm doing it wrong. I'll work on transcribing the rest before working on translations, so please feel free to go ahead. --Daegrima 21:17, 31 January 2008 (PST)
For the lines
恙虫は人間の目に映らない悪魔の蟲であり、剌された事にも気付かない。I'm fairly confident that the character 剌 is supposed to be 刺, which would make those lines:
Harvest mites are devil bugs that can't be seen by the human eye, and you don't even notice that you've been bitten.
Later, small black bite marks will appear, but by then it's too late; you'll get a high fever and collapse, and there is a high probability of death.
Could someone with the original check that character and make sure?
Also, I'm not sure on the meaning of the first footnoote (*1). Is it "The reason they take on human shape is in order to make it more difficult for humans to exterminate them."? --Adonic Meki 18:02, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- I edited instead of you. Your 1st question is right. "刺" is correct.
- But your 2nd one isn't exact. Ms. Nightbug is a youkai of bug, but seems to be a little odd human. So the 9th Maiden of Are thinks her shape makes humans not offend her.
- Thanks for the help, Masuo64. As I thought about the second question after I left the comment, I realized the purpose of 必要 in that sentence and had come up with another translation that was very similar to the one that you gave. I'm happy to see I eventually understood it properly, and I really appreciate your help. --Adonic Meki 19:32, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
