Character discussion[]

Talk about units or custom armies you find effective or ones that you think work well together.

  • I put Sanae and Reisen/Ran in most armies I attempt to beat Lunatic with (My only win so far was Cirno/Ran/Komachi/Sanae/Flandre) because of how well they work togehter. Sanae has incredible AoE (Only surpassed by Yukari and Suwako) and decent damage, so she makes a big dent in the middle of the army as Ran/Reisen run to the sides to get rid of the survivors. Komachi is also pretty good as an anti-sniper (Siki, Remi, Kanako) because she doesn't take damage from them once she gets in range and gets free OHKOs ~Thomas (210.9.8.3)
  • I was curious what the general opinion was on Kaguya. Personally, she's weak sauce on the enemy team as your snipers can eliminate all of them before they even come close. However, I think she's a great base protector, especially against quick melee units like Cirno and Chen. While the Cirno are attacking your other units, Kaguya has time to let loose a bomb that blows a huge chunk of HP out of a group of them. Although I do believe there are better bombers...Sanae especially. --68.94.55.29 17:34, 2 March 2008 (PST)
  • I made a unit list for personal reference. All the information was extracted from the wiki EXCEPT for the respawn timers. I estimated all of those by myself.

  • A friend of mine playing patchcon said that in the long run, chen is the best melee unit to have, especially in the above-level 10 onwards in Infinity mode. I'm currently looking at the stats to see if this is true. 121.96.111.195 23:59, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Kar2n
  • Personally in the long run, Patchouli is a lot more preferable to Kaguya since the difference in their damage is hardly consequential, and patchouli would release two bombs before receiving a NEET bomb herself. the best way to demonstrate this is in TD mode where you put your bombers at the front to greet the incoming wave of enemies or at the first U-turn. On an aesthetic level kaguya is more satisfying to watch, I admit and I always have her on TD mode (I find Patchy-Reisen too cheap). In normal games, NEETs have more HP and healing abilities while Hikkomori bombers on the other hand have faster rate of fire and comparable damage and capable of moving quickly out of the way. So it all boils down to how one plays the game. Kaguya is for solid defenses, lines which are not meant to be crossed, her HP and regeneration is more than enough to buy time for reinforcements to rush in, while Patchy is quick enough to either run alongside an offensive push or to the aid of a defensive line in trouble. 121.96.111.195 23:59, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Kar2n
  • for those starting out in the TD mode Reisen or Sakuya are excellent characters. They have auto-aim which prevents faster characters like Cirno from grazing them, and their damage is decent enough to stop the likes of Suika and especially Flan who not only grazes other shooters like Nitori and Ran but is tough on the HP department, AND spawns bats; each capable of taking a book. Between the two, Reisen has stun (which is good for bosses) and her bullets explode, Sakuya on the other hand can slow opponents and on higher levels her knives will go through. 121.96.111.195 23:59, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Kar2n
  • My recommended strategy in TD is to line the front area (where the new creeps come in) with bombers like Patchouli or Kaguya then cram the upper and lower first U-turns with either reisen or Sakuya. I start with 20 Kaguyas lined up at the front then the rest of the money buying Reisens for the upper and lower U turns. At money from the first few waves is to buy enough reisens so that twenty are on each turn, concentrate on upgrading them to level 3. With that, I buy ten more Kaguyas then level them up to three as well. at this point it's all up to the player what to do since this is stable enough until level 6-7. For me though, I would focus on getting enough shooters to deal with tougher bosses (like a lvl.9 uber flan) 121.96.111.195 23:59, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Kar2n
  • Youmu seems inferior to Komachi in pretty much every way, except for a level 3 skill and her charge. Is there any obvious reason I'm missing to use Youmu over Komachi? 68.94.30.43 23:04, February 12, 2010 (UTC)
