Question: Snapshot of Ending is allowed to upload?
This page is the guideline based by ZUN's mail telling what ZUN wants us to promise with for making Doujinshi, MAD or something else. Q.1 is, "I want to make fanfic and to use characters & view of the world in Touhou Project. Then, what should we abide by?" One item of the answer is; 7. As of the text, don't reprint things about endings. It's OK to make a fanfic including a content of ending, but I prohibit reprinting the text of ending as it is.
This is ZUN's wish for every player to enjoy everything through his game: to be united with Reimu or Marisa, to live and die among danmaku, to get crazy in ZUN's music, to feel moe from the characters, to think philosophical topics about them, and to make friends with them (often needs drinking). So ZUN decided that prohibition, and almost all of fans of Touhou Project abide at least in Japanese sites (I've ever met the person only once who doesn't. In niconico douga). For example, The 2 of the biggest archives about Touhou Project, 東方wiki and Izayoi net abide so. It's maybe not exaggeration that observing that rule is a minimum of manner.
Of course I don't want to say, "you are bad at playing danmaku-shooting game? Heh, you die!" I'm an easy-mode shooter. But if the pages linked with this article, that is, ending pages are allowed, and if the pages of other characters will have the link with ending pages, then it's possible that this wiki's history will change. --Masuo64 16:26, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- I don't think they are allowed(for the reason you posted), or else they would have been posted way earlier for at least 3 of the games. 212.70.205.43 20:01, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- So, shouldn't the admin delete this pages?--143.54.38.63 14:43, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
- I didn't say I'm sure, but if I'm right maybe no one that knows has seen it yet. 212.70.205.43 17:51, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Didn't know that. Should I take it out? I just figured having the ending would it make it easier to run through translators. --Xevon 03:38, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
- I said I don't know, so maybe wait for someone who knows. By the way there is a translation thread in the pooshlmer imageboard where its allowed to ask for ending translations(if the translator has seen the ending too at least) 212.70.205.43 05:35, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I think it's definitely better to take the pages out for now. As Masuo64 mentioned, ZUN has expressly asked for the endings not to be posted. If you want a translation, I suggest you ask someone more privately, or just wait for the upcoming translation patch.--143.54.38.63 16:53, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
There's a translation patch? Considering this game's been out for 4 years and it's still untranslated, I assumed it was skipped for some reason.
Took out the pages. Leaving the links and images for the admin to take out. Who is the admin, anyway? --Xevon 05:13, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
- sigh* That's messed up. By this logic, we'll never know the PC-98 endings because nobody will translate them and there's no chance in hell they'll get a translation patch.
- Well if you want my opinion on this, I kinda agree with you. ZUN said that, because he wanted each person to experience the endings on his own(and only see them if he finishes the game, as a kind of reward for finishing). That point is kinda moot though if you don't know japanese and can't experience the endings the right way. It would be nice if after you watched an ending you could go find the translation. The thing is if its on the wiki, everyone can see it and be spoiled. What's more important though, the minority of people finishing the game having the correct experience as ZUN wanted, or the majority of people not getting spoiled before managing to get the ending on their own as a reward to their efforts? The 2nd one includes japanese people too since if they know the english wiki has the endings they might be tempted. My opinion is the first one is more important as it can affect even some of the 2nd group of people. I mean, if they know they can't fully experience the endings then it isn't as big a reward(or respective loss if they get spoiled) anyways. 212.70.205.43 08:28, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
