悪魔の棲む館と呼ばれる紅魔館に棲む唯一の人間にして、メイド達のリーダーである。	The only human who lives in the house where evil demons dwell, the Scarlet Devil Mansion, and leader of the maids.
普段人間が近づがない様な場所で動いている不思議な少女である。	A mysterious girl who works in a place that normal humans don't dare approach.
紅魔館で動く始める以前の彼女の姿を見たことがある者は居ない。	Nobody had ever seen her before she started working in the Scarlet Devil Mansion.
さらに、紅魔館に訪れる里の人間に対しても冷たく、常に妖怪の味方である。	Furthermore, she is constantly a youkai supporter, and is cold-hearted towards human villagers visiting the Scarlet Devil Mansion.
その為、幻想郷の人間ではなく、外の世界かもっと別の世界の人間だと思われる。	This suggests that she's not a human from Gensokyo, but possibly from outer world or a totally different world.
里に彼女と親しい人間が居なく、謎に包まれている。	Sakuya has no close friends from the village. The girl is shrouded in mystery indeed.
ただ、里の買い物に来る事も有るが、垢抜けた雰囲気を醸し出していて、人間を敵視している風には見えない（１）。	She does come to the village to shop though, carrying a refined atmosphere around herself. There, she is never seen showing hostility towards other humans (1).
能力	Ability
時間を操る能力を持っている。	She has the ability to manipulate time.
人間が持っている能力にしては最大級の強力な能力であり、修行で身に付くような代物ではない。	It is a top class ability for a human to possess, and is not something that can be learned through training.
時間を操るとは、時間を止めて自分だけ移動したり、時間の流れを速めて、林檎ジュースを林檎酒にしたりする能力である。	To manipulate time is an ability to stop time and let one's self move, or speed the flow of time and change apple juice to apple cider.
ただ、起きてしまった事を無かった事にするには、特殊な場合を除いて難しい。	However, it is generally rather difficult to revert things that have already happened.
物が壊れたり燃えてしまったり、食べてしまった等は時間を戻しても元には戻らない。	Things that have been, for example, destroyed, burnt down, or eaten can not be turned back even if time is reversed.
時間が戻るのは移動していた物が元の位置に戻ったりする程度である。	Reversing time only has an effect to the extent that things that have been moved return to their original position.
事実上、時間を戻す事は出来ないと言って良いだろう。	Effectively, you can say there is no reversing time.
まだ、この能力は空間を弄る事も同様に可能である。	In addition, her ability can be used to manipulate space, as well.
時間を遅くする事は空間を小さくする事と同じであり、速める事は空間を広める事と同じである。	Slowing down time also means to contract space, and speeding up means to expand it.
彼女はその超絶な能力を十分に生かし、掃除や洗濯炊事にと役立てているのである。	She uses that extreme ability well to effectively do tasks such as cleaning, laundry and cooking.
この能力とは別に、ナイフ投げと手品が得意である。	Besides that ability, she is skilled in knife throwing and conjuration.
居る頭上に林檎を乗せた妖精メイドの、額に当たる事が出来るという。 手品は、何も持っていない筈の手に様々な物を出現させる物である（＊２）。	It's said she can pierce an apple on the head of a fairy maid far above her in the sky. With her tricks, she makes things pop up in her hand which should have held nothing.(*2)
紅魔館のメイド	The Maids of the Scarlet Devil Mansion
紅魔館のメイドは、質より量の信念で、大量の妖精を雇い何とか賄っている。	The Scarlet Devil Mansions policy regarding maids is quantity over quality, and large numbers of fairy maids are used to somehow keep it in one piece.
その中で唯一の人間の彼女がメイド長として、妖精メイドに指示を出している。	She is the only human maid among them, and as the head maid she gives orders to the fairy maids.
妖精メイドは殆ど役に立っていない。	The fairy maids are mostly useless.
精々自分達の服の洗濯と自分達の食事を作る事で精一杯である（＊３）。	Cleaning their own shirts and making their own food is about the best they can do.(*3)
全てのメイドに言える事は、基本的に給金、休暇は無いが、その代わり食物とお茶と自由が与えられている。	About the only thing worth saying about these maids is that they basically have no pay or vacation, but they receive food and tea, and can generally consider themselves free beings.
辞める事を新しく勤める事も自由である。	They are also free to leave and regain their posts, as well.
妖精メイドとしては割と居心地が良く、たまに無理難題を言うお嬢様の注分も愉しめる様になれば、逃げ出す者は殆ど居ない。	The fairy maids' lives are quite comfortable, and if they can come to enjoy their masters' occasional impossible requests, almost none choose to run away.
その代わり、メイド長の仕事は過酷である。	In contrast, the chief maid's job is tough.
迷路の様な紅魔館の掃除、我儘を言うお嬢様の世話、役立たずの妖精メイドの管理、人間の里に買い出し、無駄に豪華な料理を調量と、休む暇は無い。	As her duties include cleaning the labyrinthine Scarlet Devil Mansion, taking care of its selfish master, keeping track of the useless maids, going out to buy supplies in the human village, and making uselessly gorgeous meals, she has no time to rest.
これだけの仕事量を一人でこなすには、時間でも止めないと到底無理である。	It would be impossible to do all this work alone without being able to stop time.
彼女の素顔	Her True Face
紅魔館のメイドに休暇は無く、プライベートは存在しない為、彼女の素顔はよく判らない。	Since the maids at the Scarlet Devil Mansion have no break, they have no private life; thus, her character is not well known.
何故、悪魔の棲む紅魔館で動き、吸血鬼達に信頼されているのかは謎である。	It is unknown why she works in the Scarlet Devil Mansion where demons dwell, and why the vampires trust her.
本人の見る限り、吸血鬼に仕事を強いられている訳ではない事は判る。 時に吸血鬼に命令出来る程、紅魔館の中で発言力も持ち合わせている様である。	It is fairly obvious that she is not being forced to work by the vampires. She even seems to possess a certain degree of power in the Scarlet Devil Mansion that she can sometimes make orders to the vampires.
人間にしては強力過ぎる能力が吸血鬼に買われたのか、自分から志願して紅魔館のメイドになったにか、まだ正確には判っていない。	It's still unknown whether the vampires sought out the services of her inhumanly extraordinary powers, or whether she herself asked for the position of head maid at the Scarlet Devil Mansion.
さらに、今の名前は吸血鬼に付けられた名前で本名ではないという。	In addition, it is said that the name she bears now was given to her by the vampires, and is not her true name.
一説によると、彼女は元々外の世界か別の世界（＊４）の吸血鬼ハンターで、吸血鬼を追って紅魔館に辿り着き、仕留めようとして返り討ちに遭ったのではないかと言われている。	According to one theory, she was a vampire hunter from the outside world or another world(*4), and followed the vampires into the Scarlet Devil Mansion to try to slay them, but was defeated instead.
そう考えられる里由は、彼女の使う銀のナイフは吸血鬼を仕留める為のナイフである事と、紅魔館の吸血鬼が持つ能力である。	[mistake for 理由?] The reasoning behind this theory is that the silver knives she uses are for defeating vampires, and also because of the abilities the vampires possess.
彼女は吸血鬼を退治する為に人里離れて修行していた。	She was training to slay vampires in a remote location.
普段は小さな悪魔で仕留めて鍛えていたが、吸血鬼にはまだ手を出していなかった。	She normally would have taken down small demons for training, and never had tried her hands on a vampire.
だが彼女は自分の能力に絶大な自信を持っており、徐々に力を失いつつあった吸血鬼なら自分でも簡単に仕留められるだろうと思って、吸血鬼探索の旅に出たそうして吸血鬼を追って紅魔館に辿り着いたが、見た目に幼い吸血鬼なのに想像以上に強く、あっさりと返り討ちに遭ってしまう。	However, she had great confidence in her powers, and thought she would be able to defeat a vampire in decline of power easily herself, and, setting out on a journey to slay vampires, reached the Scarlet Devil Mansion. However, the vampire there who looked so young was surprisingly strong, and she was easily defeated instead.
吸血鬼は、その能力を惜しんで彼女に新しい名前を考え、改名によって運命を正しい反対に変えた（＊５）。	The vampire, taking pity on her for her level of ability, spared her, and gave her a new name, which also gave her a completely opposite fate.(*5)
彼女はあっという間に吸血鬼の僕となり、元々能力が高かったのでたちまちメイド長まで上り詰め、吸血鬼の測近になった。	She became the vampires' servant at once, and since she had strong abilities, she was able to reach the position of chief maid and become useful to the vampires.
後に紅魔館は館ごと幻想郷に移転する事になったのだが、異様な環境の幻想郷に違和感じ、最初は吸血鬼にも幻想郷の人間にも抵抗を感じていた。	Later, the Scarlet Devil Mansion relocated to within Gensokyo, but the strange environment made her uncomfortable, so at first she resisted against the vampires and the humans of Gensokyo.
だが、自分が倒せなかった吸血鬼が幻想郷の人間にあっさりと敗れ、さらにその後も何事もなかったように仲良く接しているのを見て、徐々に心を開く様になっていった。	However, upon seeing the vampire who she could not defeat easily beaten by a human in Gensokyo, and that afterwards the vampire and human got along well as if nothing had ever happened, she slowly began to open herself towards those around her.
今では何かが吹っ切れたように、吸血鬼の味方をしつつも、人間とも積極適に接するようになった。	Nowadays, it seems that something has broken through her facade, and while she still allies herself with the vampires, she can deal with humans in a positive manner as well.
でも実は、最初からこういう結果になるように、運命を操る吸血鬼によって決められていたのだ。 そんな想像はどうだろうか。	However, it's possible that the vampire who manipulates fate planned for it all to be this way from the beginning. What do you think of that theory?
まだ、他にもホムン久ルス説や実はゾンビ説、ただ単に変人説など、色々な説があるが、最も有方なには最初の吸血鬼ハンター説だ。	Also there are many theories such as ones suggesting she is actually a Homunculus, a zombie or simply just an eccentric, but the most widely believed theory is the vampire hunter theory detailed above.
本人は十代後半だと言っているが、落ち着いた性格と能力から見ても、その発言は疑わしい。どちらかというと、何百年も昔の人間に感じる事もある（＊７）。	She claims to be in her late teens, but this is unlikely judging by her refined manner and the level of her abilities. Rather, she seems to be a human who has been living for hundreds of years.(*7)
＊１：　尤も、紅魔館に居る時は明らかに敵視している風に見えるが、それは館の警備も兼ねているからであろう。	Though she tends to act outright hostile while at the Scarlet Devil Mansion, this is likely because she is acting in her capacity as security for the manor.
＊２：　時間が止められるんだから、という野暮な突っ込みは無しで。	Please refrain from making comments like, "That's because she can stop time."
＊３：　居ても居なくも変わらない。実情は、殆どの仕事をメイド長がこなしている。	Their existence doesn't really matter. The situation is that the chief maid does most of the jobs.
＊４：　冥界や彼岸や月の都など。	For example, the underworld, Higan, or the moon capital.
＊５：　姓名判断。	From name analysis fortune telling.
