PatchCon is a real-time strategy game where you must choose 5 touhou characters to create an army from to defend Patchouli's library from other large armies. Unlike most RTSes, this game is single-player only and all characters revive on death (Though it takes a long time if the character is powerful).

Gameplay

(To be put in a separate article)

After choosing your 5 characters (From either 6 pre-set armies or you can pick and choose from the 32 characters that will eventually be available to you), you find yourself in Patchouli's library with a small pile of money and nothing happening on-screen. Once you've trained a few characters and pressed start, wave after wave of enemy characters will appear and try to attack the 4 small bookshelves near the center of the map. If you can't stop them then they'll steal one book each and fly off. If you lose all 20 books then the game will end.

The clock in the top right corner shows you how far you've progressed. You start the game at noon and end at midnight, with waves appearing approximately every 15 minutes. Below that are your spell cards, which in order do the following:

  • Red card: Reduces enemy HP by 50%. This applies to offscreen enemies too.
  • Blue card: Reduces the respawn rate of all of your characters by around 80%.
  • Green card: Greatly increases attack and movement speed of your characters.
  • Orange card: Makes all the books unstealable.
  • Brown card: Unknown

Below your spell cards is a graph of how many characters are alive and how many are waiting to respawn.

Below the graph are the characters you chose for your army. Once you click one you can either train one (The top button) or upgrade that particular character (Bottom button, this effects both past and future characters.)

And finally, below the characters are stats. These show how powerful the character you've selected is in terms of level, HP, damage, etc.

To control your army you select the portion you want to control (Via click and drag) or double click a unit to select all characters of that type. Right clicking gives the selected characters orders, either to move or to attack whatever you right-clicked.

Once the clock strikes midnight, a large wave of Marisas (Known for "Borrowing" books and coming back with them very late, if at all) with above-average stats attack the library. If you defeat all of them without losing your books, then you win the game.

Story

Insert story and translations here.

The basic gist of it is that the various beings of Gensokyo are all trying to steal books from the library, and you have to stop them.
