紅葉の美しい博麗神社。 　山の神様に神社が乗っ取られると言う心配は杞憂に終わった。何だかんだ 言って、霊夢は新しく幻想郷にやってきた神様達と和解できたのだ。 　これから参拝に訪れる人間も回復していくのかも知れない、と思うと霊夢 はほっと胸をなで下ろした。	The autumn leaves fell splendidly on the Hakurei Shrine. The tension from the mountain god's threat to take over the shrine had vanished. Somehow, Reimu had managed to talk Gensokyo's new gods into a peaceful resolution. I wonder if the shrine will really get any more visitors, Reimu wondered as she sighed and brushed dust off of her shirt.
魔理沙「栗拾ってきたぜ」	Marisa "I brought some chestnuts."
霊夢　「また山に入ったの？」	Reimu "Did you go back to the mountain?"
魔理沙「ああ、収穫の秋だからな」	Marisa "Yep, 'cos it's an autumn of harvesting."
霊夢　「天狗に捕まっても知らないわよ」	Reimu "It's not my problem if the tengu catch you."
魔理沙は味を占めたのか、こっそり山に入ってはめぼしい物を探していた。	Perhaps encouraged by her initial successes, Marisa had continued to sneak into the mountain to find interesting things.
霊夢　「こんな大きな栗は見た事が無いわね」	Reimu "I've never seen chestnuts that big before."
魔理沙「化け物みたいな栗の木を見つけたんだよ。 　　　　　　あ、それと奇妙な噂を聞いたぜ」	Marisa "I found this really monstrous chestnut tree. 　　　　　　 Oh, I heard a weird rumour, too."
霊夢　「何よ。もしかしてこの栗が罠とか？」	Reimu "What. Maybe the chestnuts are a trap?"
魔理沙「この栗は関係ないが……。 　　　　　　この間の山の神様のいた神社なんだが、 　　　　　　『何やらもう一人の神様が居るみたいだ』 　　　　　　って、天狗達が噂してたぜ」	Marisa "It has nothing to do with the chestnuts ... 　　　　　　There's this rumour among the tengu that 　　　　　　there's another god in that wind god's shrine."
山の河童や天狗達も八坂神奈子と和解し、その結果、山に神社を構える事 が許された。神奈子は言葉巧みに山の妖怪達の信仰を集め、既に妖怪の山の 神として崇められているようである。 　豊富な神徳を持つ神奈子を信仰する事は、山の妖怪にとって良い事ずくめ だった。信仰は生活を穏やかにし、そして豊かにする手段として最も有効な 手段であったのだ。 　ただ一つだけ懸念すべき面があるとすれば、山の妖怪が力を持ちすぎて麓 の妖怪とのパワーバランスが危ぶまれる事なのだが……。	The tengu and kappa of the mountain had reconciled with Kanako Yasaka, and as a result, the shrine's involvement with the mountain was forgiven. Kanako's skillful words had won over the mountain youkai, and she was already practically revered as the god of the mountain. 　Their belief in Kanako, who was well-endowed with divine traits, was a great benefit to the youkai of the mountain. Faith was the best way to make life peaceful and plentiful. 　The only troubling aspect of the situation was that the mountain youkai had become quite powerful, threatening the balance of power between them and the youkai at the base of the mountain ...
霊夢　「あら、神奈子はそんな事言ってなかったわよ？」	Reimu "Oh, Kanako didn't say something about that?"
魔理沙「あいつは何か隠しているのかも知れないぜ。 　　　　　　そんな裏のあるような奴には見えなかったがな。 　　　　　　陽気だったし」	Marisa "I don't know if she's hiding something or not. 　　　　　　She didn't seem that shady of a character to me. 　　　　　　She's really cheerful."
霊夢　「確かにね、大体、日本の神様は陽気なもんなのよ。 　　　　　　ただ、一気に山の妖怪を味方につけた事も怪しいと言えば怪し 　　　　　　いし……。 　　　　　　もしかしたら、もう一人神様が居るかも知れないって事が何か 　　　　　　関係あるのかな」	Reimu "That's true. Japanese gods usually are cheery. 　　　　　　But, it's a little suspicious how she won over the 　　　　　　mountain youkai that easy ... 　　　　　　If there really is another god, maybe that has something 　　　　　　to do with it."
魔理沙「怪しいぜ」	Marisa "Suspicious."
そう言えば、神奈子は神社ではなく湖にいた。それに本人は本当の住処は 神社ではなく山そのものであると言う。	As a matter of fact, Kanako had not been at the shrine, but at the lake. And, she herself had said that her true residence was not the shrine, but the mountain itself.
だとすると、あの神社の本殿には何の神様が住んでいるのだろうか？	In that case, what sort of god could be living in the shrine?
既に何か別の神様が住んでいて、神奈子は自由に神社を扱えないのではな いだろうか？ 　考えれば考えるほど判らなくなり、二人は疑問を晴らす為に、再び山の上 の神社を目指した。	If there was already another god in the shrine, wouldn't that mean Kanako wouldn't be able to use it freely? 　As much as they thought about it, they couldn't figure it out. So, to clear away their questions, the two set out for the shrine atop the mountain again.
