Highly Responsive to Prayers ( 東方靈異伝 ) is the first Touhou game, released in 1996/1997 for PC98. generally it's an Arkanoid clone.

Concepts

The only character is Reimu Hakurei, who frantically trying to hit the bouncing Yin-Yang ball using her gohei in such a way it will hit target(s), 'cards' and 'bosses' alike. Reimu can throw spellcards(?) too, but the purpose is to ward off enemy bullets and better positioning the ball, not attacking. As the last resort, Reimu can use 'bomb', one each 'live' to hit all card. This doesnt guarantee that the card will be 'disabled'. Worse, most of the time the bomb simply will not damage the boss. The game consists of several fixed-layout level which increase in difficulty, guarded by one boss per 5 level. To complete a level the player should disable all cards or hit the boss of that level certain times. There's two choosable path on the game, 'Jigoku'(Hell) path and 'Makai'(Devil's World) path. Reimu will lost one of her live(s) when hit by enemy's bullet/laser/magic or stomped by her own ball. (no pun intended). This game feature zero length of dialogue and a less moe-looking Reimu.

Bugs(?)

- the ball is more likely to hit Reimu than its designated targets. (FIXME: prove this :-D)

- Reimu's sliding tackle (while running, press 'Z' and the arrow key of opposite direction) is really a double-edged sword.

- this page need complete revising, especially the music part.
