The Hakurei Shrine (博麗神社, hakurei jinja) is a small, run-down Shinto shrine (神社) that lies in the mountains of the East, isolated from society. It exists on the boundary between this world and Gensokyo. It is simultaneously accessible from both sides, but some unknown circumstances must be met in order to travel from one side to the other.

The shrine is home to Reimu Hakurei. It's also apparently a popular hangout for all the other girls who Reimu and company defeat in the course of the Touhou games.
