Dear Touhou experts please help!

I downloaded Touhou 6 several times from several different sources and I always have the same problem: As soon as I click on the th06e.exe data a window pops up with crazy writing. I think it's japanese signs displayed in a "western way". What am I supposed to do now? I already changed my OS into japanese just to TRY to understand what it writes since I have been learning japanese for one year, but there too many unknown Kanji, so the only words I could read were "DirectInput","DirectSound","data/title/th06logo.jpg","error: Sound" and "data/text.anm". Is Windows Vista the problem? (Again)

Do you have an Idea? Please help a Touhou addict who dosn't want to miss out on the new Touhou world... (T_T)

Well, a few more questions so that we might be able to better narrow down this problem.
1) Is the game patched?
2) Is the game english patched?
3) Do any of the other games work?
But first, try this:
The first thing you need to do is make your non-Unicode programs run in Japanese (NOT just changing your language settings to Japanese!!!) I don't run Vista but it should be something similar. Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Advanced tab -> Language for non-Unicode programs: Pick Japanese.
Try and run it after restarting your computer, if it doesn't work, make sure your DirectX is up to date.
If that doesn't work, go to Start -> Run -> dxdiag. Go to the Sound tab. If your hardware sound acceleration level is at full, try turning it down to no acceleration. If it is at no acceleration, try turning it up to full.
If those solutions don't work, we'll move on from there. VS3025 19:15, September 2, 2011 (UTC)
