Some month, some day at about half past noon, another sneak-thieving incident happened at the Scarlet Devil Mansion which stands on the ridge of a lake. |
Ever since the red mist disaster (1), there has been a sudden number of successive break-ins, however, not even a month has elapsed since the disaster and yet it is said that the number has amounted to over 10. |
Our newspaper, as a result of a vigil for three days and three nights, somehow succeeded in photographing the scene of the crime. |
It is regrettable that the crime could not be stopped, because the journalist in charge was completely devoted to photography. |
The criminal appears to be Marisa Kirisame (human,) who lives in a dirty house in the Forest of Magic. |
When the resident victims of this crime were questioned, they answered in what seemed to be a foul manner, "We already know who the culprit is, though..." |
It wouldn't be unreasonable to think that there's some relationship with the red mist disaster the other day. |
The nature of the crime was very simple: After sneaking in through the back entrance without hesitation, the criminal wore a face as if she belonged there from the start, and walked about the inside of the mansion. She then took home any books that she pleased. |
It's difficult to believe that the palatial Mansion of the Scarlet Devil would ever be bereft of residents. There should always be a resident present, however, one cannot overlook a crime without having a mindset that doesn't take lightly to crime. |
In that case, since the mansion is not empty, it perhaps cannot be considered sneak-theft. |
Only, it seemed to be neither a violent robbery nor a bold intricate scheme, so it is most appropiate to call it simple theft. |
For that reason, this article has settled on the term sneak-theft. |
According to the resident who was stolen from, the criminal left the following words. |
"Me, sneak thief? That's cruel. Although I did sneak in it's not as if I stole anything. My life is overwhelmingly short anyway, so isn't it fine if you recover everything after my death? Until then, I'm just borrowing. It shouldn't be bad for the goods that way either." |
The contents of the excerpt is from every angle a very human-like childish response, but it is more surprising that the culprit and the residents regularly converse. |

This year's summer, a red mist temporarily embraced Gensokyo, and all sunlight was momentarily blocked. |
The details are uncertain but it is known that last month, by the hands of a human the disaster was resolved and summer's strong sunlight was returned. |
